This evening we programmed a few different beats in 5/8. We approached the problem in a few ways:

• Basic take on a 6/8 rhythm with the last eighth note removed
• Latin jazz style (this is similar to Dave Brubeck’s classic, Take 5, played by the late great Joe Morello, but with a latin jazz approach to the ride)
• 5/4 back beat — this one was pretty in the pocket; ended up adding a bass part that I think will could work well as part of a track I’ve got in the works)

Fun stuff. If people enjoyed this one, I’m definitely open to do more odd time signature drum beat videos in the future!
